Insights for parents

See exactly where the marks go

A score tells you how a paper went. Insights tells you why, and what to do about it, across every paper your child sits.

The whole picture, at a glance

What is going well, where the next marks are, and what is getting in the way, drawn from every paper they have sat.

  • A score journey across full papers and mini exams
  • The story so far, in plain English
  • This week’s next step, one tap to start
The Overview tab: going well in fractions at 90%, about two marks a paper to win in spatial visualisation, two of three full papers ran out of time, a score journey chart and a written summary

After every paper

A report the moment they submit

Marked instantly, with the paper laid out question by question. Your child sees it in their words; you get the detail written for you.

  1. Every question, with its time

A tile per question: right, wrong or left blank, and how many seconds it took. Tap a missed one to see what happened.

  2. Where the marks came from

Marks area by area, so “Space, 2 of 9” is as plain as “Probability, 3 of 3”.

  3. Three things to do this week

Each one opens the module or mini exam that fixes it. No guessing what to practise next.

A Year 6 exam report: Proficient at 57%, three cards for what went well, the marks to win and what to watch for, a tile for each of 40 questions with its time, how long each question took, and where the marks came from by area
The same exam report on a phone: Proficient at 57%, then a tile for every question with its time
A Year 6 child’s own Insights page: Where you’re at, Exam ready at 81%, an Open it button for today’s module, and what is going well

For your child

And a page that is theirs

Your child gets their own Insights: where they are at, what is going well, and one thing to open today. It is written to them, and the notes written for you stay on your page.

  • One clear next step, not a wall of numbers
  • Their best score and the exams they have sat
  • A report after every paper, in words they can read

The misconception, named
It told me he was adding the denominators — not that he was "bad at fractions". Twenty minutes with a drawn rectangle and it clicked. I would never have found that myself.

Mastery by topic
The skills map was the moment it made sense. Strong on number, thin on measurement — you can see the shape of it. We stopped drilling what she already knew.

A plan that fits the week
I get one thing to do today and a short plan for the week. That is the whole reason we have kept it up — it never asks for an hour we do not have.

Good to know

Does it really feel like a real exam?

Yes — papers are timed and grade-matched, with flag-for-review and exam pacing, so the first time your child feels exam pressure isn’t on the day. Marking is instant when they submit.

How do I know what my child should practise?

Every exam becomes a report: a score, a band, accuracy topic by topic, and a plain-language summary. The study plan turns that into a short, specific list for the week — no guesswork.

Is it safe for children to use on their own?

Children get a simplified student view with only their own work, and the built-in assistant is deliberately limited to safe, encouraging study help.

What does it cost?

Nothing, and no card is required. All exams, mini exams, explanations and Insights are free. For anything else, the team is at support@simplymaths.au.
